Backyard Wedding? 3 Reasons Not To Hold Your Rehearsal Dinner There

Backyard weddings are a great way to save money and enjoy intimate nuptials with only those you really want there. But just because you've chosen a home wedding venue doesn't mean you should hold every weekend activity in that home. For example, should you host the rehearsal dinner at home or use a private party venue? The answer may be the latter. And here are a few valuable reasons why.

1. Keep Your Place Clean

The last thing you need is to have your tidy, cleaned, prepared house and yard messed up by a second party right before the big one. Even if you use the same basic setup—rented tables and chairs, decorations, and silverware—you'll undo a lot of the work put into making everything ready for the wedding.

In addition, using items before the main event risks breaking them, damaging things, and dirtying them. The more people who will be at the dinner, the less risk you should take that things will be ruined before you need them.

2. Get Outside Help

Many backyard weddings are DIY affairs, with the couple and their friends or family pitching it to do most of the work. However, you don't really want to have to do that for another party as well as the big day—certainly not back-to-back.

When you opt for a private party venue, they do a lot of the work for you. They provide a clean and neat environment, set up and break down tables and chairs, and will often help with other setup elements. Depending on the venue, they may also provide catering, bakery services, and wait staff.

3. Create a Different Vibe

Rehearsal dinners may or may not coordinate with the style of the wedding. They often serve as a contrast to the ceremony or reception that expands the fun of the weekend. A couple might host a rustic, casual dinner before an elegant wedding, for instance, or a luau to go along with their honeymoon plans.

But you can't do this if you use the same venue for both affairs. If you rent a separate space, the sky's the limit for rehearsal dinner choices.
